Happy 3rd Birthday

So, this posting is a little late... but Emma had her third birthday party a few weeks back. For weeks leading up to her party she had been requesting a "snow white cake". So one day Emma and I ventured out to the cake decorating place in search of a snow white cake pan. The store had no such thing - cinderella yes, snow white.. no! Since cinderella just didn't cut it, I attempted to get Emma to pick a different design. To make a long story short... carebears were in! At least they were in until Mayeli (Emma's best friend) had her birthday party - and she had a cinderella cake! The two of them had been pretty competitive leading up to this party so Emma was determined that she must have a snow white cake! In desperate need of back up (and someone who could make a snow white cake) I called for reinforcements. Myranda and I had a casual conversation with Emma one day explaining that a snow white cake pan just didn't exist and that I'm not very good at drawing so unless she wanted an stick-woman snow white, it just wasn't going to happen. Carebears on the other hand could happen. Emma flatly refused. Infact she told Myranda "my mommy can do it - she'll make me snow white." No pressure at all for me. Well I did make that snow white cake. Many, many thanks to Shirley in BC... your icing sugar recipe was a saving grace! Also a shout out to Holly who always has faith in me (except early in the morning at the office while laughing at me for getting myself in this cake situation... thanks!). Andrew and I were up until 2am making this lovely piece of art work. Oh, and thanks to the grocery stores in Barrie for NOT stocking black icing! That was lovely, had it not been for that black icing the cake would have been done several hours earlier! Nonetheless it was a blast to create! Please remember before scrolling down that I am NOT an artisit. I did not attend what was my mandatory (to graduate high school) art class (I did get an "A" though, figure that one out!). So anyway, after those several hours of cake creating and decorating, Emma woke up the next morning only to be so excited about having her carebear cake. I nearly fell over when she said that. Weeks and weeks of requesting that snow white cake only to be excited for the carebears! Haha!
