Bikin'

March 26, 2006

What a beautiful spring day. After some light house work Emma and I decided to take a ride on the good ol' bike. Since I had promised Emma an ice cream earlier in the day I decided we would take a ride down to Dairy Queen. I figured that if I exercised on my way down there that the few bites of ice cream would cancel out any prior exercise and it would be as though I didn't eat or exercise... and that to me was just fine! Our journey started out slow, it seemed that no matter how hard I peddled we just weren't going anywhere... then we put some air in the tires and we were off!!! It's amazing what a difference a little bite of air makes! The best part of our journey was watching Emma eating ice cream... it was everywhere by the time she was done. :)

(Just so you know, that's a helmet under her hat!)

Of course, like many other parents, I'm always trying to stay one step ahead of Emma. So naturally after getting Emma all dressed in her biking gear, the idea of changing Emma's diaper before our ride crosses my mind. Of course, with a freshly changed diaper there's no need to carry more! WRONG!!! We were traveling as light as possible (the two of us, Emma's cell phone - her direct line to Mickey mouse of course - and some cash). It wasn't until I set Emma down on the counter at DQ that I noticed she was in desperate need of another diaper. Desperate times called for desperate measures... of course I had left my cell phone at home (by accident) and Emma's cell phone only connects to Mickey Mouse, so I begged the nice lady behind the counter to let me use her phone. I'm sure from the stench wafting from Emma's diaper the lady understood my situation... Lucky for us dad was just around the corner in his truck. He stopped by for a quick ice cream snack and then it was home in the truck. Dad to the rescue! Thanks for the lift!

(you never can be too safe while driving in Dad's truck.. haha...)
