Annual Photo

Well it's that time of year again. Each year around this time I like to get a family snap-shot. This year, it's just the two of us in it! Emma had a blast irritating the camera lady. If the lady said sit, Emma stood. If she said face left, Emma faced right! Emma really wanted to get her picture taken with her head on the ground and her butt in the air. I guess to an almost-three-year-old... that's a good family snap-shot. Anyway, Emma knew that she was driving both the camera lady and myself up the wall (by not listening). Somehow (and i'm not entirely sure how) but we did manage to get three great shots out of it. This photo is the more "proper" of the shots. In the other two we're fooling around. They turned out really great. All in all, we had a great trip to the photo studio. Another year has almost passed, Emma's about to turn three, and once again our family portrait is different. Kinda makes you wonder what the new year will bring?!

To be totally honest, I have to say that the past few months have been great. Emma and I have bonded in a way that has taken me completely off guard. She's matured ten fold in the past months. Her attitude has simmered down... and (and this is major) issues that we used to have, like for example being a picky eater... have totally subsided. Take tonight for example: Instead of demanding the usual peanut butter toast Emma ate stir-fry. She cleared a whole bowl of green and yellow beans, zuccini, mushrooms, cauliflower, brocolli, carrots, and shrimp.. and of course the rice. For desert she had a yogurt and an apple! Two months ago I couldn't get her to sit at a table with a bowl of food like that, let alone eat it. But honestly, without a single complaint she ate it all. Maybe she's feeling a little more grown up now that it's just the two of us... or maybe she's taking it easy on me because of my back problems! Who knows?!

As for the back... that's a blog posting in itself. Short version: i have nerve damage in my lower back, three jammed vertabre, and injured some discs. It's great fun. Can hardly walk. Can't sit. Can't bend. Oh, and the best part, get get my shoes or socks on by myself.
