A Week With My Mom

Ok, so as most of you know I have a bad back. I'm not exactly sure what I did to end up in this much pain, but wow, it's a doozie! My back was so bad that last week Emma and I didn't stay at home because I needed help caring for her (bathing her, getting her to daycare, routine kinda stuff) and me (walking, getting to and from the doctor, that sort of thing). Then this past Saturday my mom came to stay with Emma and I for a week. It was a blast. We had such an amazing visit... and Emma had a wonderful time bonding with her Grandma. I think her favourite part was getting a bubble bath with the jets on (a daily ritual for Emma and Grandma).

Before I forget, yesterday I went to the chiropractor for my adjustment and I asked him how come I get this killer pain from my tailbone up to the base of my neck every time I look down, bend over, cough or sneeze... and to my surprise he told me that not only did I do damage to my vertabre and discs but I have actually injured my spinal cord (and some have severe nerve damage) as well. He wasn't entirely sure to what extent that is repairable so I guess it's a wait and see game now.

Anyway, back to my story about this past week. Yesterday Oma and Uncle Gary came up for a visit. I was worried that it was going to be a really emotional kinda day (being the third anniversary of Matt's passing and all), and in a really happy, jolly kinda way it was. After a light lunch we all went over to the park. I of course wasn't capable of partaking in the park-time activities but it was a blast nonetheless. I don't think I can recall a time when I have seen my mom, Uncle Gary, and Oma having so much fun. It all started when Emma wanted to go on the swings. My mom was pushing Emma when all of a sudden Uncle Gary jumps on another swing and starts "racing" Emma... Emma's yelling "faster Grandma, faster" and Uncle Gary's egging her on. Then Uncle Gary hops off and jumps on this horse like thing stuck in the ground. You're supposed to be able to rock back and forth but Uncle Gary kinda got stuck in the back position and couldn't move... it was hilarious everyone burst out laughing. Even Oma was playing around at the park, climbing up the play structure and teeter-tottering with my Mom. It was an amazingly hilarious adventure at the park.
