Previously the master bedroom walls had been painted a bright yellow, replacing the dull beige that was there. At the time I wasn't all together thrilled with the color, but definately thought it was much happier than the beige, so it stayed. This weekend, enough was enough. Friday after doing some running around for a client I found myself steer into the Benjamin Moore parking lot. Before I really knew what I was doing I was already in the store. The girls there were more than happy to help me pick out colors. Actually, let me back up... before I found myself at the store I had a few hour long conversations with my mom (who should have been an interiorPerhaps it's a lack of sun during the daytime, or the long, dark winter evenings, but this weekend I decided that I needed a change. Lately it appeared to me that this house needed something to make it feel warmer... perhaps a little cozier. decorator) about what colors would work in my house. She gave me some great pointers and I promised that I call her before I did anything drastic. Not really too sure what came over me... actually to be totally honest the Benjamin Moore store wasn't even on the same side of the city as where I was for work! I just kind of gravitated towards the store. Anyway, there I am in the store, surrounded by helpful employees, talking about the colors I like, and the next thing you know I'm walking out - paint in hand. I got back into my car, looked at the clock and decided hey what the heck, it's friday, Emma's at backup (for daycare), my work is done, I'm going home (I got Emma first - I just couldn't leave her at that house).
Now naturally I'm excited to have a fresh coat of color on the wall... but I thought to myself "lets not start something that can't be finished by bedtime." So there we are, just Emma and I sitting on the couch, staring out the window in total silence when Emma turns and says to me "well mom, what are we waiting for?" I just kinda looked at her in total confusion, which I guess she understood because she looked back, eyebrows raised and said "um...the paint." Before you could blink the painting had begun - and before i went to bed the room was completely painted... twice! It's definately cozier... and it's still bright. The picture just doesn't do it justice. It's a darker yellow kinda color with a brown hue to it... check it out.

Next stop: the livingroom, dining room and hallway... and the color of choice - something brownish! Stay tuned... big changes to come!
