Ok, so there I am puttering around my kitchen this-afternoon when Emma takes off to go to the bathroom. A while later, and still no Emma. No Emma, and no noises... a very rare occurance in this house. Usually the only time that this house isn't filled with the little chatterings and singing of Emma is when she's alseep... so I knew something was definately up! I headed down the hallway and noticed that the bathroom door was closed, so I knew she must be in there. It didn't really occur to me that she was up to something (even though she NEVER shuts the bathroom door - - ever!). Afraid that she had fallen in, I grabbed the handle to open the door and turned- - "Mom to the rescue!" To my surprise the door was locked... still no clue that my little miss was up to something. It wasn't until I heard the infamous "... um..." from the other side of the door that I knew something was going on - she unlocked the door and quickly hid her hands behind her back. At first I thought, she's ok, maybe she was just stuck in the bathroom... but then... then i saw a pile of hair in the sink and immediately knew what she was up to. It didn't take her long to know that I had caught on... I think my mouth hit the ground when I saw her hair laying there. It's hard to be upset that she cut off all of her bangs (that have taken 3 years to grow out) when she looks at you and says with the most beautiful smile "isn't it beautiful mom - I cut my hair - I have bangs now - I'm a princess!" So needless to say, there was no trouble for cutting her hair - after all it is her hair and she's happy with it (I did warn her of the dangers of playing with scissors). Of course I had to immediately phone my mother (who begged and pleaded with me to give Emma bangs when they went to get their haircut together) - - she responded "that reminds me of someone". I guess it's like the saying goes Like Mother, Like Daughter.
